《구멍 난 낭독》은 신체적 결함으로 인해 경험하게 된 시간의 구멍을 은유적으로 드러낸 전시다. 여기서 구멍은 겉으로 발화되지 못한 개인의 고통과 침묵을 의미한다. 전시는 덜어진 신체 부위와 그로 인한 무력감, 좌절감을 다룬 시간을 배경으로 회화와 조각으로 구성된다. 어린 시절 쓴 시의 한 구절, "비록 새의 날개는 부러져도, 가족의 사랑은 떨어지지 않아요"에서 부러진 새의 형상에 자신을 투사했고, 날 수 없는 새와 달릴 수 없는 말은 〈뛰는 새, 나는 말〉로 표현되었다.

김은혜는 그간 타인의 신체적·정신적 외상을 작업으로 승화해왔지만, 정작 자신에게 닥친 사건은 그 시선에서 예외였다. 몸을 쓸수록 통증이 뒤따르는 일상 속에서 비로소 '개인'이라는 존재를 생생히 느꼈고, 자신만의 고통이라 여기면서도 비슷한 이야기를 찾아다니며 서로 다른 결핍 속에서도 닮은 면을 발견했다. 이 전시는 개인의 고통과 결함을 드러내는 실험이자 기록이다. 건강하지 못한 몸과 정신을 감출 필요가 없는 자신과 사회를 기대하며, 결함으로 인해 존재 자체의 기쁨을 조금씩 빼앗기지 않기를 바란다.

A Reading with Holes metaphorically reveals gaps in time brought on by physical impairment, holes standing in for a personal pain and silence that could not be voiced. The exhibition, composed of paintings and sculptures, draws on a period marked by the helplessness and frustration of recognizing a diminished body and its narrowed range. A line from a poem written in childhood, "Even if the bird's wing is broken, a family's love will not fall away," became the source of a self-projection onto the image of a broken-winged bird, expressed in works such as Running Bird, Flying Horse.

Kim Eunhye had long found creative joy in sublimating the physical and psychological traumas of others into her work, yet that same gaze had always made an exception of herself. As pain increasingly accompanied the use of her own body, she came to feel, more vividly than ever, what it meant to be an "individual." Even while regarding her pain as entirely her own, she sought out others with similar stories, discovering that differently shaped forms of suffering could still resemble one another, and that meeting in that resemblance could bring a kind of comfort. The exhibition stands, in the end, as both experiment and record of exposing personal pain, defect, and lack. It looks toward a self and a society that no longer need to conceal an unwell body and mind, while cautioning against letting impairment slowly rob one of the simple joy of one's own existence.
